Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Quality Engineer technical band 4 to join and lead elements of our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Woodland Hills, CA location. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Quality Engineering team that is engaged with cutting edge technology on a dynamic portfolio of products to meet our customer's mission needs. The candidate will support and lead the technical program and hardware quality engineering efforts across multiple product lines.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leads and supports all quality engineering functions in support of meeting all contractual, functional and program requirements in support of multiple, diverse customer deliverables primarily in our space business area.

  • Leads proposal efforts and basis of estimate development.

  • Develops, modifies, implements and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.

  • Evaluates and reports on design, incoming material, production control, and product evaluation to make product and process quality more visible, develops, maintains and reports on metrics.

  • Interfaces with the supplier mission assurance team to ensure requirements flow down and identified program issues are resolved in a timely manner.

  • Leads the team to establish root cause on identified issues and ensures corrective and preventive actions are documented, implemented, and verified effective.

  • Leads efforts to ensure the quality engineering team meets goals and closes actions on time.

  • Works to ensure effective processes are well documented and updated as needed.

  • Establishes and leads audits for compliance to established procedures across all functional and program areas.

  • Leads the teams Continuous Improvement activities.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related STEM discipline, Master's degree preferred

  • 9+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or related field in support of high reliability product development, manufacture, test, delivery, and post-delivery support.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and technically lead a team of hardware and program quality engineers.

  • Worked in support of in an ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System Environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with external customers and senior management presenting and defending the quality engineering effort

  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current DoD Secret or above clearance

  • Experience with military electronics manufacturing, J Std-001 soldering and IPC 610 experience

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and/or Auditor is a plus

  • Experience with SAP and MES is a plus

  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma, Green belt certification would be a plus
