Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) sector is looking for you to join our Inertial Products manufacturing group as a Principal or Senior Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. The position is for a full-time Project Engineer and focuses on Sensor Instruments and components such as Gyroscopes, MEMs, and Precision Optics/Glass fabrication.

What You'll get to Do:

  • Create and manage operational aspects of project plans (tasks, resources, schedules) for pre-production activities.

  • Review status of projects and budgets; manage schedules and prepare status reports.

  • Provide ROI justification for projects and process improvements.

  • Monitor process yields, cost, and process stability and capability.

  • Develop/revise process documentation and work instructions.

  • Assist with design of custom tooling.

  • Conduct pre-production Manufacturing Readiness Reviews.

  • Solve manufacturing problems (related to materials, designs, equipment, people) in a timely manner.

  • Facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Action tasks and drive to closure.



Basic Qualifications:

This position may be filled at higher level based on the following qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) area with 5 years of relevant professional experience, or Master's degree in Engineering or related STEM area with 3 years of relevant professional experience.


  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) area with 9 years of relevant professional experience, or Master's degree in Engineering or related STEM area with 7 years of relevant professional experience.


  • Project Management or Process Engineering experience.

  • Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 Sigma concepts for process development and control.

  • Fluency in MS Office software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with transition to production and capacity expansion through Capital Equipment investment and laboratory expansion.

  • Familiarity with SAP, technical proposal writing, and cost estimating.

  • Knowledge of sensor technology and materials.
