Northrop Grumman Engineer, Mechanical 3/4 in Woodland Hills, California
Working in Northrop Grumman Mission Systems means making a direct contribution to mission projects that keep our homeland safe, expanding the boundaries of possibility and reshaping the world we live in.
Based in our Woodland Hills, CA office, this position will support senior mechanical engineers in the design of military avionics including fiber optic inertial navigation and measurement systems and mission computers for military air, land and sea vehicles.
Mechanical design engineering responsibilities for inertial navigation systems and/or mission computers, including support for existing product lines
Creation of innovative designs with high producibility at minimum unit cost
Support for root cause analysis and quick resolution of manufacturing line stops and other critical production activities
Collaborative work with other engineering organizations, program management, factory operations, global supply chain and Mission Assurance.
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.
The basic requirements for a level 3 are a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and 0 years experience.
The basic requirements for a level 4 are a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and 4 years experience.
Additional requirements include:
High degree of creativity and ability to solve a wide range of difficult problems
Self-motivated, willing to learn, experience working in a team environment
Good presentation and writing/communication skills
Experience with mechanical CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain Secret clearance
SolidWorks CSWP certification
Experience with mechanical analysis and related tools such as ANSYS and SolidWorks Simulation for structural and thermal analysis
Active Secret clearance
