Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector has a need for a Principal or Sr Principal Systems Engineer at its Subsystem and Software Sustainment (S&SS) organization in Warner Robins, GA. This engineering position is for a role on our Systems Engineering Team. In this role you will be supporting Electronic Warfare and Radar Development programs. Our ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, a drive to lead from where you are, collaborative people skills, and the proven ability to work within a technically diverse and fast-paced team. This position is in Warner Robins, GA and requires that you work on-site daily.
Your responsibilities will include:
Perform hands-on integration and testing of sophisticated Electronic Warfare and Radar systems, including both hardware and software components in development and production environments.
Generate and update system and sub-system level specifications and ensure verification traceability (tracing requirements to test plans/procedures/results).
Use modeling and simulation tools to expedite testing of individual units before all system components are available and for troubleshooting and repair of failed units.
Model and simulate real-time system operational environments and develop software that represent projected system behavior.
Participate in the development and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for verifying system requirements.
Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness of test program.
Perform analysis of test results and prepare comprehensive reports.
Foster team collaboration to solve complex engineering problems and ensure project milestones are achieved.
Identify and implement process improvements within the team to enhance productivity and quality of deliverables.
**This position may be filled at the Principal Engineer Systems OR Sr. Principal Engineer Systems level.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Systems:
Minimum of 5 years of direct relevant experience with B.S degree; Minimum of 3 years of direct relevant experience with Master’s degree; Minimum of 1 years of direct relevant experience with PhD.
System test, analysis, and/or integration experience.
Experience with MATLAB or equivalent programming/analysis languages.
Experience with lab test equipment such as function generator, oscilloscope, multi-meter, spectrum analyzers, etc.
Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex HW/SW integration problems.
Basic understanding of Radar or EW principles.
Knowledge of embedded systems design and implementation.
Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation.
Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance.
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Engineer Systems:
Minimum of 9 years of direct relevant experience with B.S degree; Minimum of 7 years of direct relevant experience with Master’s degree; Minimum of 5 years of direct relevant experience with PhD.
System test, analysis, and/or integration experience.
Experience with MATLAB or equivalent programming/analysis languages.
Experience with lab test equipment such as function generator, oscilloscope, multi-meter, spectrum analyzers, etc.
Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex HW/SW integration problems.
Basic understanding of Radar or EW principles.
Knowledge of embedded systems design and implementation.
Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation.
Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior professional experience either in Radar or Electronic Warfare, or prior professional experience in immediately transferrable domain skills such as digital signal processing, digital beamforming, adaptive processing, or tracking algorithms.
Experience developing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models, and command and control models.
Experience in development, integration and testing of large-scale systems.
Experience with deriving system/software requirements and developing test plans and procedures.
Experience in aviation and/or Department of Defense programs.
Proficient with RF test equipment.
Proficient in firmware development, MATLAB, Simulink, VHDL Coder, etc Experience with VxWorks/pSOS RTOS.
Experience with MIL-STD-1553.
Experience with Hardware in the Loop testing.
Experience using Jira/Bitbucket/Git.
Electrical/Systems Engineering Degree
Salary Range: $95,300 - $142,900
Salary Range 2: $118,600 - $178,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
