Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal CAD CAM Engineer or a Senior Principle CAD CAM Engineer to join the Field Engineering Team. This position is located in Oxnard, CA and supports the Maritime/Land Sensors & Systems (MLSS) division.
What You'll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will plan, lay out, model, draw, and revise detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts, established references, and standard engineering data with an overarching goal of supporting and improving manufacturability and maintainability. Candidate will apply basic knowledge of design and analysis tools and employ the application of general standards, principals, theories, concepts, and techniques to perform professional tasks. Candidate will utilize computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and AutoCAD. Candidate will also complete details of major layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be able to collaborate closely with design and manufacturing engineers, electrical and mechanical assembly technicians, and operators, to meet design requirements for systems and components.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Create and/or finalize 3D models for components and assemblies
Determine scaling
Insert necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning
Prepare specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations
Prepare complete production detail drawings
Contribute design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations.
Occassionally climbing ladders and scaffolding to make measurements and confirm mechanical details of assemblies and systems

Basic Qualifications for Principal CAD CAM Engineer :
Bachelor's degree with 5 years of applicable technical experience ( four additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree ); 3 years with Master's Degree; 0 years with PhD
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX 3D, or ProEngineer
Able to communicate with various levels of leadership, must be able to coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems and must work well collaboratively in a professional team environment as well as independently with limited guidance
Must have an active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI and Special Program Access (SAP) prior to starting.
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal CAD CAM Engineer :
Bachelor's degree with 9 years of applicable technical experience ( four additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree ); 7 years with Master's Degree; 4 years with PhD
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX 3D, or ProEngineer
Able to communicate with various levels of leadership, must be able to coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems and must work well collaboratively in a professional team environment as well as independently with limited guidance
Must have an active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI and Special Program Access (SAP) prior to starting.
Preferred Qualifications:
STEM Degree (Science, Technical, Engineering or Mathematical)
Ability to model fully defined components, assemblies, and complex systems efficiently using SolidWorks
Demonstrated expertise in planning, drawing, and revising detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings
Demonstrated expertise developing drawings to current GD&T standards
Experience with process/procedure development, control, and improvement
Strong communication skills including technical writing and verbal communication

Salary Range: $95,000 - $142,400
Salary Range 2: $117,700 - $176,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
