Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Sykesville, Maryland is seeking a Machinist/Fabricator/Integration Technician. The Machinist/Fabricator/Integration Technician will work closely with the Engineering, Operations Program Management (OPM), Manufacturing Engineering, and Cell Management organizations in support of both internal and external customer delivery requirements.
Responsibilities will include:
Set up and operation of a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders
Make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions
Bending and fabricating sheet metal parts
Creating templates for cabinet repair
Interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup
Using a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments
Makes complex shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining
Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
Must have:
Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail
Great verbal and written communication skills
Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED and at least 2 years of relevant experience
Experience with machining and fabrication
Experience using precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements
Experience reading blueprints, schematics and manuals
Knowledge of metal properties and other material
Experience in a Manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience
Experience in Defense industry
