Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr Principal Construction Project Management to join our team of qualified individuals. This position is located in Sunnyvale, California. Northrop Grumman Marine Systems specializes in the development, manufacturing, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems, and propulsion power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. The candidate selected will assume responsibility of overseeing and managing the operational aspects of both new construction and remodeling projects which includes existing infrastructure, building renovations, administrative spaces, scientific laboratories, and campus-wide supporting civil infrastructure and green remodeling practices.
Responsible for managing the day to day efforts related to, planning, design, construction and activation of projects under the direction of the Senior Manager of Projects and Space Planning. Ensures the completion of projects within budget, on schedule, and meets all program objectives and appropriate government regulations. Acts as a liaison between the client/users and all other project participants including consultants, contractors, vendors, and outside jurisdictional agencies. They will leverage effective team leadership, build trust, and influence others to achieve results in a highly collaborative environment with transparency and integrity. This position requires the highest personal and professional commitment to delivering safe, quality design and construction project performance with requirements of establishing organizational efficiency, budget and schedule performance, identifies problems and develops solutions.
Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules. Recommends architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities. Oversees the budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects. Conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Plans and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities projects.
Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses
Prepares and acquires architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans specifications, and schedules.
Oversee subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality standards are met.
Ensure safety guidelines are followed on all job sites.
Supervises the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects.
Conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements.
Bachelors' Degree and 10 Years experience in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field or 8 years with Masters Degree; an additional 4 years of applicable work experience may be substituted for a Bachelors degree.
Knowledge of building codes, ADA, local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.
Experience in managing technical facilities construction projects and green building initiatives.
Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field and seven years of relevant experience
Exceptional and effective written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.
Ability to plan and see the "big picture", and productively assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams.
Related experiences of CAD system, estimating, cost control, scheduling, construction administration, quality control, specification writing.
Must demonstrate strongest commitment to construction safety, including construction safety knowledge, field experience, and commitment to proactive safety planning and compliance.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Project.
Experience with SAP.
Knowledge of Revit and BIM modeling software.
