Lean Process Pillar Lead WCO (World Class Operations)

Our group is responsible for implementing and managing innovative applications World Class Operations (WCO) applying Lean Practices and Processes. The Northrop Grumman Sunnyvale Production Support Group is looking for a Lean Process Pillar Lead WCO who has proven experience implementing and coordinating lean practices and processes leading to World Class Operations.

The Pillar Lead will be responsible for supporting a WCO route map for our site. In this role, you will be partnering with multi-functional teams across NG to lead activities within managerial and technical pillars. The Pillar Lead will be the driver of the continuous improvement agenda and provide leadership to the cross functional teams. We are looking for a highly motivated, meticulous, hands-on technical individual with excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate brings technical functional depth and credibility, and possess the requisite executive leadership traits and business acumen to interface with the senior operations leadership and executive management team and develop, communicate, lead and motivate. The operating system requires a leader with a passion for implementing change management initiatives in operations, and rigorous pursuit of excellence in all manufacturing and business initiatives.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Leading a team to drive the design, development and deployment of key WCO.

  • Communicating with Sector and site management teams on a regular basis.

  • Ability to assess new technologies and determine solution for possible site implementation.

  • Support operations leadership to ensure NG Operations Methodology is applied in a way that supports business performance and true alignment of business goals and objectives.

  • Lead and support the deployment of the recently launched Operations System.

  • Support, mentor and guide the technical application leaders in the implementation of the methodology and development of materials and best practices.

  • Guide the organization towards a future that utilizes the Northrop Operations methodology.

  • Develop organization knowledge of the Operating System and increase ownership and autonomy driving business results.

  • Effectively communicate across multiple organizations to align a strategic and tactical path to success for manufacturing operations at the site.

  • Partner with leadership to establish strategies for implementation, expansion, and sustainment.

  • Facilitate development of key enablers to cultural readiness and acceptance of change through formal and informal change management methods.

  • Promote methods that ensure all employees are respected, developed and engaged to their fullest potential.

  • Identify and eliminate functional and organizational roadblocks to the operating system maturity.

  • Support management in the implementation of the leadership blocks ensuring system sustainability.

Basic Qualifications Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology Engineering or Math) with 2+ years of relevant work experience; Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Exposure or specialization in any or all of the following: mechanical assembly processes, test processes, tool design, NC programing, machining, welding and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience in continuous improvement.

  • Experience in technical writing.

  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline with 5+ years of experience; Master's Degree with 3+ years' experience.

  • Strong Project Leadership, Continuous Improvement, and Communication Skills.

  • Able to work/coordinate with multiple teams. Experience leading and mentoring teams.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to optimally multi-task and support multiple, concurrent projects.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (US Citizenship).

  • Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system desired.

  • Advanced skills with MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point.

  • Candidate must have experience in data analysis, database management and data management.

  • Candidate must have experience in Root Cause Corrective Action/Problem Solving.

  • Experience in operations environments.

  • Strong communication (written/oral), facilitation and training skills at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work in different settings and environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a World Class Manufacturing Environment.

  • White/Yellow Certification.

  • Experience with lean practices and processes.

  • Ability to plan site roadmap based on lean practices.

  • Drive progress and track/monitor KPI progress regularly.

  • Lead efforts to increase WCO training opportunities within the plant.

  • Experience in designing and developing World Class Operations.

  • Exposure to machining, welding and assembly processes.

  • Degree in Engineering.

  • Active Secret clearance.

  • Lean Manufacturing Experience or Certification.

  • STEM is preferred but not required.

  • Experience in program planning and scheduling.

  • Experience with Project Management and the execution of large scale, integrated projects across multiple functions and organizations.

Salary Range: $77,100 - $115,700

Salary Range 2: $95,000 - $142,400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
