Northrop Grumman FACILITY CARPENTER/MAINT in Sunnyvale, California

Carpenter will construct, remodel, repair, finish, paint, and install temporary or permanent wooden components and structures to support manufacturing operations.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED OR OPERATED:

Band Saw, Circular Saw, Jointer, Planer Sander, Trowel, Transit and Level, Brush, Various Paint Equipment, Lathe, Hand Tools such as a Saw, Hammer, Level, Nail Gun, Tape Measure, Square, Chalk Line, Pliers, Putty Knife and etc. Safety Glasses, Hard Hat, Gloves and etc.

MATERIAL USED:

Lumber, Plywood, Insulation, Tile, Plaster Board, Hardboard, Shingles, Concrete, Nails, Bolts, Screws, Glue, Tape, Paint, Solvent, Putty, and Glass.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS:

Direct support personnel as needed.

WORKING PROCEDURES:

The following are the usual major job duties but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties by the incumbent, nor the question being raised on the proper rate of pay for the assignment:

  • Edit, modify and/or generate basic drawings/sketches for platforms, support and stands.

  • Perform duties as a Northrop Grumman representative by overseeing sub-contractors work with on-site projects to ensure compliance with Company safety practices.

  • Coordinate with Management to develop rough estimates for project, including generic Bills of Materials (BOMs), required in-house labor and sub-contractor support as requested.

  • Read and follow blueprints, drawings and specifications provided with job assignments. Ensure proper time and material charges are recorded for each job assignment.

  • Develop material lists and needs from assigned jobs or from drawings supplied and order the required materials as required.

  • Understand and perform job tasks in compliance with local building codes and other applicable codes related to buildings and/or installations.

  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with all safety regulations, applicable work authorizations, specifications and all drawings where provided.

  • Setup and operate all woodworking tools and machines required to cut, shape, drill and sand material to size including selection and installation of proper cutting tools or abrasives. Select and adjust appropriate machine stops, guides, feeds and speeds.

  • Layout and mark materials to be processed as required by the job.

  • Safely operate all auxiliary equipment necessary to perform job assignments, including but not limited to man lifts, scissor lifts, generators, compressors and spray painting equipment.

  • Assemble, fit, fasten, and finish components, walls work platforms, fixtures and pattern mockups, including all related hardware.

  • Layout, fit and install concrete forms per drawings. Estimate quantity, order, pour, and finish concrete according to specifications.

  • Maintain work areas, tools and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Journeymen Carpenter with five or more years of experience in wood framing and finishing carpentry

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trusses construction and repair experience a plus

  • Industrial building and Roofing experience
