Start your future with a new mission, Northrop Grumman Mission Systems. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, located in Sunnyvale , CA has an immediate need in Facilities for a Facilities Construction & Space Planning Engineer.
Position Summary:
Plans, designs and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities, reconfiguration, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, space planning and other facilities . Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules. Obtains and supervises outside contractors. Recommends architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities. Supervises the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects. Conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Actively involved in space utilization planning for the site consistent with the requirements of organizational efficiency, available facilities and funds
Work as primary point of contact to manage and solve space requests
Schedule and attend meetings with requestors to discuss, analyze and document space requirements and layouts
Create phased relocations/reshuffle plans
Maintain floor plans in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Archibus, AgilQuest, and other tools
Under general supervision, work from the design of others and perform routine architectural assignments
Coordinate and participate in the preparation of construction documents with team members
Assemble plans, construction documents, and other information for permitting
Assist and support the Facilities Project Management team as required
Oversee architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for planning and design of facilities space and utilization
Review design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs
Maintain contact with and directs contractor representatives and assists in resolving discrepancies in design specification and ensure proper submittals are received
Respond to urgent and time sensitive requests. Some weekend work may be required
Proactively seek out and plan improvements for buildings and overall campus
Communicate with internal customers, site leadership, other functional teams: EH&S, IT, Security
Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans, budgets and schedules
Identify problems and develop solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing project scope
Encourage, lead, and/or participate in staff training and development.
Experience Requirements:
Extensive Architecture and Space Planning experience
Project Management, Construction with city planning and permitting experience
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Good analytical ability to recognize deviations from accepted practice
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external representatives
Strong oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
Ability to update As-Built drawings by performing site visits and field measurements as needed.
May require walking long distances, climbing stairs, visiting non-air-conditioned spaces, and/or standing for long periods of time
Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office
Ability to advocate a safe, secure and ethical working environment that maintains compliance with federal, state and local government regulations (OSHA, EPA, ISO, DOT, permits, etc.) in addition to company policies
Basic Qualifications:
5 years experience with Bachelors in Architectural, Civil Engineering or Construction Management; or 3 years experience with Masters in Architectural, Civil Engineering or Construction Management; or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelors Degree.

Project management experience
Must be a US citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting a large-scale industrial manufacturing facility
Experience working with various construction trades
Experience using common construction materials in design
Demonstrated knowledge of California Code and Regulatory requirements
Experience working with the city of Sunnyvale Planning Department
Familiarity with wood design including large timber
Familiarity with NFPA and ADA requirements
Salary Range: $95,000 - $142,400
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
