Northrop Grumman is seeking a motivated professional to join our team as Software Engineer . The location of this position is at Suffolk, Virginia. Northrop Grumman is seeking a talented self-motivated mid-level Java Software Engineer to contribute to a full system development life-cycle (SLDC) support with focus on the development of application and embedded solutions that contribute to the satisfaction of business and mission needs in Suffolk, Virginia. In this role, the candidate will utilize Commercial-Off-The Shelf (COTS) integration and custom development expertise in industry standard programming languages (e.g. Java, Cold Fusion, etc.)
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
2 years' experience with a Bachelor of Science (or post graduate) degree in Computer Science or similar range of experience
Possess valid certification in CompTIA Security+ Have a good understanding of software architecture and design for web-based systems
Be able to convert functional and technical requirements into business and mission solutions
Create System Design work products such as wireframes and prototypes
Understand SLDC processes and implications to development role (e.g. unit testing)
Create level of effort and duration estimates for development activities
Analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions
Work and participate in a Scrum team utilizing agile methodology best practices to deliver high quality products
