The Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking an Associate Operations Research Analyst to work in the Joint Distribution Process Analysis Center (JDPAC) at USTRANSCOM with a mission to provide analysis support to improve the nation's ability to move and sustain our forces throughout the globe. This position will support the Analysis of Mobility Platform (AMP) Setup Team (ASUT). This position is located at Scott AFB, IL.
Role & Responsibilities:
As an ORSA, your role will be to:
Analyze actual and predictable interacting operational activities of business to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision making through the application of logic and scientific or economic disciplines and techniques.
Devise modeling and measuring techniques; utilizes mathematics, statistical methods, engineering methods, operational mathematics techniques (linear programming, game theory, probability theory, symbolic language, etc.), and other principles and laws of scientific and economic disciplines.
Provide AMP scenario set-up support to provide JDPAC study leads with analysis-ready, study-specific, tailored AMP setups. This includes establishing and executing a process to verify and validate AMP input data required for model set-ups. Additionally, you will provide AMP trouble-shooting assistance in order to help analysts rapidly identify and correct model set-up problems until completion of the study.
Assist in the development of new AMP requirements and capabilities and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to verify and validate new model versions. Additionally, you will organize and conduct AMP training to support the AMP user community. This includes four (4) introductory week long AMP training sessions and monthly two (2) hour training sessions on advanced model features and new functionality.
Develop techniques and processes to fully utilize AMP output data in support of ongoing analytic efforts and provide a written report documenting the techniques and procedures.
Provide analytical support for the ASUT by testing Change Requests (CRs) and regression scenarios in AMP during the Beta and User Acceptance Testing time frames.
Create/set up scenarios to be used for programmatic studies and for operational logistics analysis studies.
Assist with preparing for AMP 101 and Advanced training by testing and updating training manuals and exercises.
Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and analyze information that assists management with decision making and other managerial functions.
Perform validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulate models as necessary.
Able to manage multiple tasks with competing timelines and deliverables.
Have strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
