Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems - Schriever Air Force Base - Colorado Springs has a current opening for a systems administrator who will maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.
Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
The Systems Administrator primary duties include installing, troubleshooting, updating/patching, and maintenance of virtualized Linux environments, lab assets, & IT infrastructure.
Candidate will sustain operational uptime on Red Hat Linux systems and provide daily support for hardware and software issues, data recovery, system upgrades, software upgrades, and configuration issues.
Working with Cyber Associates and using reporting tools like ACAS and SCAP scans, System Administrator will perform security hardening on systems using DoD STIGs and other best practice security guidelines.
In the role, the selected candidate will pick up some of the skills for team lead, mentor others, and work with management on schedules, cost analysis, planning and proposals.
This position will also include network engineering tasks to include the understanding of RHEL based high-availability networking configurations, IP addressing, routing, and interface bonding.
