Northrop Grumman SWDC TMC Product Owner (Principal or Sr Principal Engineer Systems) in Schriever AFB, Colorado

The Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC) Threat Modeling Center (TMC) at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Principal Engineer Systems in an Agile Product Owner role based out of Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.

This position is open to the next higher grade (Senior Principal Engineer Systems) based on the experience and education of the candidate as defined in the qualifications below.

What You'll Get to Do:

The Threat Modeling Center is responsible for the development and delivery of high fidelity threat modeling products in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and MDA's Ballistic Missile Defense System. This position is for an Agile Product Owner supporting software development.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Creation of Capability and Feature Epics, User Stories, Backlog Refinement and the development prioritization

  • Definition of Acceptability Criteria

  • Make decisions regarding the priority of product backlog items in order to deliver incremental user functionality

  • Ensure transparency into the upcoming work of the product development team

  • Clearly identify and describe product backlog items in order to build a shared understanding of the problem and solution with the product development team

  • Requirements development

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • For an Principal Engineer: 5 Years with a relevant Bachelors in Science in a STEM discipline; 3 Years with a Masters

  • For a Senior Principal Engineer: 9 Years with relevant Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with Ph.D.

  • Final DoD Secret clearance

  • Systems Engineering Lifecycle background including requirements derivation

  • Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies and specifically the product owner role

  • Strong Systems Engineering background

  • Prior experience in an Agile software development environment

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience as an Agile product owner

  • Understanding of Modeling and Simulation (M&S)

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology and tools (e.g., PTC Integrity Modeler) and SysML methods

  • Excellent time management, schedule estimation, and delegation skills

  • Experience with descriptive modeling and architecture description

  • Ability to work independently and in groups equally well; must be a self-starter

  • Knowledge of software design and performance in IT infrastructures, networks and cloud solutions

  • CompTIA Security+ Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology and tools (PTC Integrity Modeler) and SysML methods

  • Knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and missile performance parameters necessary to model ballistic missiles is highly desirable

  • Experience with Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence)

  • Must possess good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Strong math, physics or engineering background is preferred

  • Understanding of Modeling and Simulation of ballistic missile systems

  • Current DoD Top Secret clearance with SSBI (SCI eligibility)
