The OPIR is responsible for the development, test, and operation of simulated and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) representations of satellite sensors and related systems for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Missile Defense System Test and Exercises.

Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment. Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed. Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area. Support SBIRS Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) product line under the BOA/ESL Contract. This work is performed at Schriever SFB in Colorado Springs, CO.

The candidate must possess an active DoD Secret clearance; must be able to successfully perform in a production/operational environment. Preferred candidate must have interpersonal skills, ability to adapt, excellent communication and written skills, and be a team player.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree and 12 years of relevant experience; Masters Degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; PhD and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or 16 years of relevant experience In lieu of degree

  • A Current Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

  • Exceptional written and verbal skills in the form of presentation to routinely brief clients through meetings and documentation.

  • Documentation management

  • Collaborate and lead team exercises

  • Short term travel availability

  • Extensive knowledge of complex systems to include Linux, Solaris, network traffic and hardware components.​

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

  • Subject matter expert of BOA operations, including JSCORE, DUSTE, and FOXSim

  • Test, analyst & Integration of BOA systems functionality & performance.

  • On-site Integration and troubleshooting support for BOA test and operations

  • Ability to conduct regular scheduled training for BOA mission personnel.

Salary Range: $136,300 - $204,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
