Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is currently seeking a Missile Modeling Engineer to support The Threat Modeling center in Colorado.
The Threat Modeling Center is responsible for the development and delivery of high fidelity threat modeling products in support of MDA and MDA’s Ballistic Missile Defense System. This position requires a detail-oriented mid-level aerospace engineer responsible for developing high fidelity ballistic missile and space launch threat representation for use in a variety of modeling and simulation tools and media. Must have a good understanding of modeling and simulation methods and processes. Must be able to research, interpret and apply parameters required to build, replicate
and propagate missile or space launch trajectories to include staging, debris, counter measures and RV / payload traits. Must be able to apply standard engineering and mathematical algorithms to ensure the accurate portrayal of expected missile or space launch behavioral characteristics during all phases of powered and un-powered flight. The selected individual must be able to work with little or no direct supervision, work as an integral member of a product delivery team, and meet time critical delivery schedules.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Aeronautics, Physics, or Math with at least 2 years of Engineering experience.
Strong knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, and performance of ballistic missiles.
Active DoD Secret clearance.
Must be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment.
Modeling, Simulation, and automation experience a plus.
Strong math, physics or engineering background is preferred.
Previous experience with modeling flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and missile performance parameters of ballistic missiles is highly desirable.
Strong background in missile system engineering performance is highly desirable.
Mastery of engineering modeling principles behind body motion, trajectory generation, counter measures, and debris is a plus.
Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance.
