The NOALS team at Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) is looking for you to join our team as the Engineering Manager and Deputy Program Manager based out of Schriever AFB, in Colorado Springs, CO. the NOALS Program is part of the Space Surveillance & Environmental Intelligence (SS&EI) Operating unit (OU)
What You'll get to Do:
You will work with other NG employees and our subcontractors in a dynamic, multi-discipline environment in direct support to an operational satellite ground system. You will use systems engineering methods and tools to accomplish customer/contract goals and support program management in development, enhancement, and maintenance of the operational baseline.
The Engineering Manager supervises all aspects of engineering as part of an O&M contract. Responsibilities include oversight of Software Development, Systems Engineering Integration and Test (includes CM/DM), Facilities and Logistics, IT, and Interface Communications. The Engineering Manager works under the supervision of the Program Manager and serves with the Operations Manager and NOALS Architect as a member of the PMO, providing overall program management and direction, and program status to the PRA. The position will lead and manage approximately 60 engineers from multiple companies in all activities related to the sustainment of Government baseline systems and facilities.
The Engineering Manager actively collaborates with the NOALS Architect, the Government Director of Engineering and the Government COTR to provide engineering solutions relative to ongoing system sustainment and evolution/recapitalization projects to minimize risk to ongoing operations. The Engineering Manager coordinates with the Government customer and PMO to ensure sustainment needs and priorities are continually being met and are consistent with Government and operational priorities. The position leads efforts of continual improvements to the engineering processes, coordinates translation of operational needs into sustainment requirements, identification of and project management for implementation of material solutions, integration and verification of solutions, and control of the baseline.
The Engineering Manager will also serve as the acting Program Manager when requested. These efforts include daily communication with the Government squadron
leadership, coordination of integrated scheduling, developing and reviewing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) as well as participation and/or leading Program Management Reviews and financial meetings involving staffing and/or procurement decision-making.
