Northrop Grumman Systems Engineer Level 3 or 4 in San Diego, California

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Sector, Communications Division, Resilient Network Solutions (RNS) Operating Unit is seeking a Systems Engineer to support various RNS programs.

The BACN program at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer level 3 or 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Engineering, Sciences & Technology organization, responsible for team leadership in innovative detail design ranging from chassis to aircraft payload, as well as the analysis necessary to satisfy program requirements.

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Application of systems engineering processes to develop systems that meet customer requirements

  • Execution of trade studies to select from among multiple potential solutions

  • Perform Systems Requirements analysis

  • Requirements database development, management, maintenance experience (e.g. DOORS)

  • Management of requirements, include decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation

  • System modeling and simulation

  • Architecture, CONOPS, and use case development using model-based systems engineering methodologies

  • Perform analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, and test.

  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of related experience

US citizen with active Secret or higher clearance, or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Must have detailed knowledge and experience with tactical data link (TDL) MIL standards and requirements

Understanding of deriving hardware and software requirements, design, development and testing of system integrations.

Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project).

Basic Qualifications for a level 4:

Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of related experience

US citizen with active Secret or higher clearance, or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Must have detailed knowledge and experience with tactical data link (TDL) MIL standards and requirements

Understanding of deriving hardware and software requirements, design, development and testing of system integrations.

Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project).

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent written and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and within groups.

Current Secret security clearance and capable of successfully passing Extensive Background Investigation (EBI) for higher level clearances.

Tactical Data Links such as LINK 16, JREAP A/C, SAT J, VMF, CoT, MADL, IFDL.

Familiar with MIL-STD-6016, MIL-STD-6017, MIL-STD-3011 & MIL-STD-6020

DOORS experience.
