Northrop Grumman Systems Engineer 5 in San Diego, California

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineer 5 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is searching for a qualified Systems Engineer 5 to serve as a technical leader in support of BACN programs located in San Diego, CA. The BACN team is in need of a Principal Systems Engineer 5 with in-depth knowledge of ground and airborne RF network communication systems engineering and modeling and simulation. The selected candidate works as a Principal Systems Engineer 5 under Program Management direction toward successful completion of specific Program goals and objectives. The candidate will be expected to provide Systems Engineering leadership and be responsible for oversight of systems design, requirements development and modeling and simulation of systems comprised of RF, analog/digital hardware and software, and will determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Systems Engineer 5 will be a key contributor to systems engineering and integration efforts, and provide engineering expertise for development of a large scale solution. The candidate will perform technical planning, concept and requirements development/engineering, verification and validation, and cost and risk analyses, and will execute work packages, develop and maintain use cases and story points. Candidates will work collaboratively with functional leads to complete software design, develop and review bills of materials, and integrate software components and services (with each other and with hardware components) to meet system requirements.

The successful candidate will lead modeling and simulation activities across the program.

In addition, candidate will interact with internal and external customers to elicit/clarify requirements, develop software documentation, support software builds, support capability demonstrations, and coordinate with integration and test personnel to resolve integration and test discrepancies, with an emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach. The candidates will provide technical advice and comment on system documentation and installation instructions, design artifacts, Software Requirements Specifications, and Software Product Specifications. The position requires senior-level skills in systems engineering and analyses at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, production, test, correction of defects, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal, as well as experience in and understanding of evaluating, interpreting, and distilling customer requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline

Platforms and communications system modeling and analysis

Practical experience with STK (Satellite Tool Kit) including RF antenna models and link budget analysis.

Software development experience with Microsoft C++ for PC based tools

Experience with MATLAB & OPNET for modelling

Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Integration of STK models with Qualnet EXata network emulation using Hardware In-The-Loop.

Experience with MADL (Multifunction Advanced Data Link) aircraft communication protocol

Experience with Proposals

Has an active Secret Clearance
