Northrop Grumman Principal/Sr. Principal Engineer Quality in San Diego, California

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is specific to the San Diego, CA site/region.

Help us define possible here at Northrop Grumman Corporation. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Operations Agile Transformation organization, joining the Continuous Improvement (CI) team. This team provides "Agile Process Excellence" capabilities across the Mission Systems sector to support program performance, operational agility and efficiency, and world-class quality. The team is committed to the relentless pursuit of excellence in the core areas of Agile practices, process development, QMS compliance, continuous improvement, and predictive analytics. The team manages a healthy pipeline of integrated, multi-disciplined continuous improvement projects, tools and solutions.

The selected candidate will become a key representative to drive our culture of agile operational excellence for their site / region, leading improvement initiatives to support their areas as well as support strategic, sector-level initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support NGMS Sector initiatives by leading agile improvement projects to improve operational efficiencies, program performance, quality, and affordability

  • Work with local/regional Operations leadership to identify issues and risks to program performance, assist with prioritization, selection, and execution of improvement needs

  • Act as the local/regional champion for agile continuous improvement, providing subject matter expertise implementing Agile methods, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (DMAIC), Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action (RCCA), and engaging local agile improvement practitioners to support improvement projects

  • Assist with assessing local/regional training needs (Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, RCCA, etc.) and help coordinate and instruct classes. Facilitate and coach improvement teams and solve complex technical problems utilizing Agile, Lean, DMAIC, RCCA, and other related problem solving methodologies

  • Establish and measure key indicators to assess project success and transition successful outcomes to program teams

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline

  • 5+ years of experience within one or more of the following areas: Quality Engineering, Supply Chain, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent expertise

  • Possess experience working with Agile teams

  • Possess Six Sigma Black Belt experience

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline

  • 9+ years of experience within one or more of the following areas: Quality Engineering, Supply Chain, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent expertise

  • Possess experience working with Agile teams

  • Possess Six Sigma Black Belt experience

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels:

  • BS or MS in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering

  • Experience with Minitab or equivalent Statistical Software (R, Python, MATLAB, SPSS, etc.)

  • Six Sigma Black-Belt or Master Black-Belt Certified

  • Agile Scrum Master Certified. Agile Coach Certification preferred.

  • Possess a current Secret Clearance. Current Top-Secret Clearance, or ability to obtain TS Clearance preferred.
