Northrop Grumman's Space System's sector is looking for a Materials & Process Engineer to support the Space Components organization/business unit located in San Diego, CA .
Documentation and implementation, including training, of any new test process/procedures introduced.
Implementation and monitoring of SPC methodologies from test results.
Development and refinement of test tools and test specimen assemblies and/or process.
Support Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigations or evaluation of test anomalies or non-conformance
Design of Experiments (DOE) activities for test efficiency and quality improvement.
Validation and qualification of new equipment or procedures.
Review process/procedures for compliance with Customer or Industry Specifications (ie: ASTM)
Act as responsible Material Test Engineer overseeing material/component testing and generating test report
Bachelor's in Material Science or related degree with 2+ years' experience, Master's degree with 0 years' experience
Good communication and written skills.
Relevant industry and composite experience will be considered
Analytical approach to problem solving and data analysis
Working knowledge of high performance carbon/epoxy and carbon composites systems, core materials, adhesives, surface treatment.
Prior experience in an Aerospace or Space hardware manufacturing environment.
Prior experience in an Materials Test environment
