Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a highly qualified, mission oriented individual to lead a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians located in San Diego, CA with responsibilities including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Lead a team of approximately 12 employees (engineers & technicians) specializing in manufacturing of Ground Subsystems

  • Provide day-to-day work direction for team, focusing on maintaining steady workflow, productivity, and resolving operational decisions

  • Develop and maintain production process documents

  • Serve as the department specialist for manufacturing ensuring proper staffing level are maintained with a skilled and well trained workforce

  • Develop and coach employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance and accountability expectations, conducing performance appraisals and providing general supervision

  • Provide guidance to design engineering regarding concepts and specification requirements

  • Conduct timecard approval, employee performance evaluations, facilitating employee growth, and special assignments in support of the functional homeroom

  • Seek out and implement strategic initiatives for your respective discipline

  • Build and maintain a culture that empowers employees, establishes personal and team accountability, motivates team performance, encourages development, and supports innovation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university

  • 5 years' experience in manufacturing or production

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance and special program access

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance & special program access

  • Ground Segment Production Experience

  • Proven track record of Six Sigma/Lean/Continuous Improvement projects

  • Experience with Manufacturing Enterprise System (MES)

  • Prior experience in process improvement

  • Knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) methodology

  • Knowledge of Earn Value Management (EVM)
