The Avionics and Tactical Networks (A&TN) department is seeking a highly-motivated, mid-level Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in San Diego, CA. The selected candidate will play a critical role in designing, architecting, and implementing modern network architectures.

The qualified Network Engineer must be self-motivated, hardworking, and capable of working on an agile program, as it moves through the system lifecycle phases of development, test, and deployment. The ideal candidate will develop solutions to increasingly complex problems, utilizing ingenuity, thoroughness, and practicality; and perform their work with minimal direction or oversight. The candidate must understand how their tasks fit within the overall program objectives and perform their work accordingly. The selected candidate will be expected to engage with NGC leadership, external business partners and customers, as required to provide technical information regarding the program.

In this role, the selected candidate will become part of the A2AD (Anti Access Area Denial) group, and design and plan network communication systems on multiple programs. The candidate must be able to provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architectures, information for hardware and software selections, and implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet present and future business needs. The candidate will be expected to conduct testing of network designs, and evaluate and report on new communication technologies to enhance network capabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Create, review, analyze, and incorporate technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures. Assessment of system needs for delay tolerant networking, disadvantaged communication links, high availability, and high-performance network infrastructure technologies.

Responsible for completing the network designs and coordinating with the peer network engineers on design reviews. The program will provide the opportunity to expand or extend services and the network engineer will assist with preparation of proposals

Maintain regular contact with the Integrated Product Team, network engineers, system administrators, and security analysts, including review sessions to discuss technical performance against the master schedule, and planning regular updates and upgrades to the environment.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must have a Bachelor's degree (STEM) and have 5 years ofexperience/knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

Solid understanding of IP address planning, VRFs, ACLs, encapsulation, switching, routing, QoS, NAT, service and application protocols

Technical understanding of the variations of public, private, hybrid, multi, and distributed cloud models and their application within the Department of Defense

Understanding of technologies such as MPLS, MPLS-TP, E-VPLS, VPLS, VPNs and DMVPN

Experience with authentication and data encryption methods, to include securing communications at either the data-link or network layer

Experience with IT Infrastructure Management/Monitoring Tools (e.g.,WhatsUpGold, Splunk, SolarWinds, Cisco Secure Servers - ISE) and Techniques

Possess one or more of the following certifications: CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIP-ENT

Active DoD Secret Clearance within the last 5 years or Active DoD Top Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Experience utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS), IC-ITE GovCloud, IC-ITE C2S SDN, and other federal government community or emerging cloud frameworks

Experience with async or sync data replication along with automated failure recovery, to include using protocols/technologies such as HSRP, VRRP, VSS, GLBP, VM clustering, and load balancers

Working knowledge of Cybersecurity and Risk Managed Framework Controls/Methodologies

Multi-OS experience, with specific knowledge of RHEL, CentOS, or Windows Server

Experience with virtual machines and hypervisors, such as ESX, KVM or Xen

Experience with multiple networking protocols across client-server platforms as well as an understanding of large-scale processor applications (Ethernet, HDLC, TCP/IP, VRF, OSPF, UDP, DHCP, SMTP, and FTP)

Proficiency in MS Office including PowerPoint and Visio

Experience with terrestrial and space-based network architectures, designs and implementation techniques

Experience with IDSs/IPSs

Experience with HAIPE encryption devices
