Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Design Engineering Team Lead to join our group of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

The Design team is one of three elements of an Integrated Product Team that work together on building electronic subsystems. The other two elements are Production and DevOps. The Production Engineering team physically builds the subsystems based off of the documentation provided by the Design and DevOps Teams. Once the physical build completes, the DevOps engineers work with the production team to configure the network, operating systems, COTS software, and other electrical components.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all aspects of managing a team of engineers and drafters, providing execution strategy, assignment and technical direction, and some individual engineering contribution.

  • Work with the Hardware Team Managers to maintain and define new product roadmaps and develop detailed Integrated Master Schedules that are both aggressive and achievable.

  • Present detailed status reports and metrics to management.

  • Lead the design team to produce a product that meets requirements within cost and schedule.

  • Providing estimates for proposals and new business opportunities.

  • Good planning, coordination, and documentation skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university

  • Minimum of 9 years of STEM related experience OR Master's Degree and 7 years of STEM related experience

  • An active Interim Top Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access.

  • Willing to travel appx. 25% within the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

  • Active Program Access

  • Experience with Northrop Grumman's version of Teamcenter Unified and Enterprise

  • Familiarity with drawing standards (such as ASME)

  • Experience in production drawing creation and release

  • Drafting Experience (Catia, Viseo, or equivalent)

  • Proven success leading design teams

  • Familiarity with a Product Release Lifecycle such as Teamcenter

  • Project Management experience such as:

  • Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Proposal estimating

  • Maintaining an Integrated Master Scheduling (IMS)

  • Configuration Management Experience

  • Quality Assurance Experience

  • Ground Systems Experience
