Northrop Grumman Casual Tech Prof Non Exempt Field Support Engineer in San Diego, California

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks multiple, qualified individuals to represent the interests of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Class Mission Package program as the contractor's Site Lead for activities operating out of the newly constructed Mission Package Support Facility (MPSF) Forward Operating Sites (FOS) located at US Navy facilities in Singapore and Bahrain. The initial opportunity is for four Casual positions (Paid actual hours worked, No benefits) two of the positions will support East Coast operations at Mayport, FL and two will support West coast operations in San Diego, CA. Teleworking option is available during initial efforts of this opportunity if not located in the Mayport, FL or San Diego, CA area.

InitialPeriod Job Duties Casual Employee

Initially candidates will be casual employees on rotational assignments working within a core group of seasoned professionals to support the stand-up of new facilities as well as the operational needs of the fleet. The position may require support and travel to other undisclosed Remote Operating Sites (ROS) locations in the area of responsibility (AOR). As the program grows with the deployment of additional ships, candidates will be considered for selection to a full-time position (12-month minimum assignments).

Long Term Full Time Employee

As the senior Northrop Grumman representative on-site you will serve as the primary representative responsible for the overall, day-to-day management of personnel and the maintenance MPSF Mission Package assets embarked on the LCS Class ships in theater to ensure fleet maintenance and logistics support requirements are appropriately supported.

The candidate will have daily interaction with fleet and local operations and logistics support staff, the ship's crew, department heads, and as needed the ship's Commanding Officer is a key component to filling this position. The candidate will be designated as the Singapore/Bahrain Site & Maintenance Lead, reporting to the program's Sustainment Manager with close interaction Mission Package Maintenance Engineer (MMME) operating out of Naval Base San Diego (Singapore) and Naval Station Mayport (Bahrain).

The candidate will coordinate with and be supported by the MPSF maintenance planners in the course of his duties and he/she will, in turn, support their efforts through the prompt completion of maintenance actions and supporting documentation. He or she will also support and report to the embarkation lead for MP embarkation-related efforts and during related events.

As the Site & Maintenance Lead you will work with key government and contractor Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop, screen/broker, prioritize, execute and report availability actions and plans to ensure equipment readiness meets the demands of the LCS Squadrons, COMLOGWESTPAC (CLWP)/Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Centers (FDRMC) and related operational requirements. In addition, the candidate should have demonstrated experience in availability planning, estimating and execution in the maintenance and repair of the Mission Package.

Related duties will include project management, logistics support, and material readiness management utilizing the following maintenance elements and their systems:

  • Planned Maintenance System (PMS)

  • Utilize Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM) to create, manage, screen and schedule Automated Work Notification

(AWN) (i.e., 2K) for workload determination

  • Draft electronic Work Authorization Form (eWAF)

  • Work with equipment SME to identify corrective maintenance requirements

  • Identify other maintenance requirements through condition assessments

  • Coordinated Ship Maintenance Plan (CSMP) Management

  • Execute Planned and Corrective Maintenance Planning Support (PMAV/CMAV) Availabilities

  • Determining personnel required (numbers and skills)

  • Identify parts, consumables, tools required

  • Identify test and inspection requirements

  • Quality Control Inspection (Spot Checks)

  • Report Operational Readiness to LCSRON and MPSF

  • Risk Assessments / identify mitigation courses of action

  • Engage with Navy representatives, government program offices, Fleet Sailors, and shipyard / other contractors.

Basic Qualifications:

-High School Diplomawith Fifteen (15) years-experience with Navy maintenance, to include a supervisors knowledge of the Navy's Maintenance and Material Management (3M) system, Corrective Maintenance, and logistics support

  • Proven experience planning and executing preventative and corrective maintenance availability activities on U.S. Navy ships

  • Ability to conduct and report on technical review of work packages

  • Candidate will be required to perform physically demanding work, to include working in tight, restricted access quarters onboard a US Navy warship and other spaces, climbing 20 ft ladders and standing for long periods of time on a Navy ship or pier, lifting 50 lbs or more.

-Must be willing to work at US Navy facilities located in Singapore or Bahrain.

-Secret clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Port Engineer supporting US Navy warships

  • Experience with the LCS Class Mission Package elements consisting of:

  • Surface Warfare (SUW) MM equipment including, Mk 50 Gun System comprised of the Mk44/Mk46 Gun components, and 11-Meter RIBs

  • Mine Countermeasure (MCM) MM equipment

  • Anti-Submarine (ASW) MM equipment

  • Eight (8) years of Work Center Supervisor experience within the past ten years

  • Supervisor's knowledge of the Navy's Surface Warfare (SUW) and systems and inter-workings of the LCS Class MM program

  • Experience in testing and evaluation of LCS MM as a member of a LCS MCM Detachment and Officer In Charge (OIC)
