Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as an Experimental Machinist 2 based out of Salt Lake City, Utah . At Northrop Grumman, you will have the resources, support, and team to do some of the best work of your career.
Roles and Responsibilities
Plans the layout, fabrication, and testing of mechanical devices; sets up and operates any type of precision machine tool to make original parts, tools, mechanisms, and devices for experimental purposes.
Solves problems relative to work-holding arrangement, unusual materials, machine settings, tools, product specifications, and fabrication methods for production process.
Normally performs precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions for research engineers in a developmental laboratory condition. Some machines may be numerically controlled.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship and many years of precision all-around machining experience on unusual, original, and intricate layout, machining, and assembly tasks.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED with 2 years additional education/or related experience
Ability to operate manual 3-axis mills and lathes.
Ability to read mechanical drawings including GD&T.
Ability to run standard shop equipment (band saw, chop saw, grinder, post drill, etc).
Strong communications skills both verbal and written.
US citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in design and development of complex mechanical systems.
Background in mechanical design of tooling
Strong CAD experience in SolidWorks and/or NX
Salary Range: $41,000 - $68,400
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
