Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr Staff Engineer to join the team. The role will be a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) IFC Team Lead in support of the Sentinel program.

This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Learn more about the Sentinel (GBSD) program here . Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What You'll Get To Do:

The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Staff Level Engineer to join the team supporting activities for the GN&C Team.

  • Lead an effort across the IPT to plan, track, manage, and report progress on cross-functional goals bundled as Integrated Functional Capabilities (IFCs) in coordination with diverse teams and program management

  • Support program management in driving program schedule regarding estimate at complete for individual IFC tasking as part of the whole for technical scope

  • Own technical baseline variances between different IFCs and operational configurations

  • Lead the development of the tailored GN&C systems architecture model in support of the Sentinel first flight design review

  • Provide technical oversight in the development of a tailored GN&C system requirement specifications ensuring compliance to developmental flight system capabilities

  • Tailor system interface documentation in support of incrementally maturating engineering & development hardware units

  • Develop capability and maturity roadmaps that detail the technical capability build-up of the guidance element overtime

  • Provide oversight on the maturity of GN&C software products via early level certification leading to formal qualification and certification of the products.

  • Provide oversight in the verification and validation strategy of the tailored IFC technical baseline

  • Lead the development of technical certification products for the GN&C element leading to delivery of a GN&C IFC 1.0 certification package

  • Develop technical requirements and innovative solutions to GN&C models in support of early developmental test activities deviating from the qualification design

  • Develop technical solutions for real time simulations to operate in developmental scenarios during incremental hardware and software GN&C maturation

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 12 years of experience with Master's degree, 9 years of experience with PhD

  • A minimum of 3 years systems engineering leadership experience

  • At least 1 year of experience with Guidance Navigation and Controls systems

  • US Citizenship with an Active DoD Secret clearance, granted or re-investigated within last 6 years, or in Continuous Evaluation (CE)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance, within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by the company, to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with SCI, PAR clearances

  • Master's Degree in a relevant technical specialty

  • Ideal candidate will have experience in a technical leadership or management role on teams of 100+ individuals

  • Experience with SW certification

  • Experience with SW/HW integrated products

  • Experience with ICBMs, Missile Programs, Command and Control, or Communications related programs

  • Experience with Cybersecurity of an Information Technology based system

  • Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations

Salary Range: $158,200 - $237,200

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
