Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer . This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel Program (GBSD) .
What You'll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will be part of the Command & Launch Systems Physical Security Hardware Design Team supporting the engineering, architectural development and requirements and verification maturation for Physical Security systems. Responsibilities include:
Development of the intrusion detection, access control and video assessment systems for high value assets. Includes requirements and specifications development, model-based system engineering, product selection and development, interface definitions, system integration and testing, documentation generation, drawings development, installation instructions and maintenance instructions.
Gain a working knowledge of security industry software and hardware offerings and maintain a working knowledge of ongoing and future developments and improvements throughout the industry.
Ensure PSS design meets program specific requirements and Air Force and DoD general requirements, policies and procedures for security of high priority assets
In addition to integrating with the PSS team, interface with other elements to include system and segment level teams
Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Principal Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 5 years' experience; 3 years' experience with a Master's degree; or 0 years' experience with a PhD.
Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 9 years' experience; 7 years' experience with a Master's degree; or 4 years' experience with a PhD
Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
Drawing generation experience (NX preferred)
Experience developing requirements or designing to requirements
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience with physical security systems
Experience with Agile Development
Experience with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
Modelling and analysis experience (Matlab preferred)
Agile development process and tool familiarity (Jira and Confluence preferred)
AFI 31-101 and DoDM 5210.41M familiarity
Experience working DoD acquisition projects
Knowledge of various data transmission formats (eg. Serial, TCP/IP, Fiber etc)
Broad technical and design experience, across multiple platforms, and encompassing the entire product development lifecycle.
Salary Range: $82,000 - $123,000
Salary Range 2: $101,600 - $152,400
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
