Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Facility Design Engineering Manager 2 . This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.
What You'll Get To Do:
This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time. The candidate will have 80% technical responsibilities: supporting SDS programs as an engineer within their same function. Candidate will act across multiple organizations to drive execution.
As a Functional Manager, you will be required to provide a wide range of people leadership and mentoring activities, and foster a culture that allows employees to learn and grow. You will facilitate and execute the performance management cycle for your direct reports. This includes setting goals, mid and end-of-year reviews as well as performance evaluations and compensation. This role will also require you to mentor your direct reports and be their first line of contact for career growth, training and certifications funding, stretch assignments, etc.
The Facility Design Manager is responsible for the development of specifications, drawings, and calculations comprising construction Technical Data Packages (TDP), as well as site-adapted TDPs and as-built TDPs, and other design artifacts required to achieve 100% design of Sentinel Infrastructure facilities. This role oversees a team of civil/structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers responsible for the development of the Sentinel facilities through facility qualification.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
Setting a vision for and leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers to execute the Facility Design scope of work.
Performing financial and performance analyses to develop and implement long-term staffing plans and process improvements.
Providing mentorship and growth opportunities to the Facility Design team and growing a strong leadership bench.
Program Execution:
Driving on-time delivery of Facility Design work products to support the design timelines of the Infrastructure Design organization.
Utilizing earned value management and other financial tools to plan, execute, and report status.
Supporting the integrated planning of complex interdependent projects to support Sentinel program milestones, balancing prioritization of Engineering resources between competing projects and teams.
Ensuring schedules and program plans are credible, substantiated by quantitative data, and bounded by risks and opportunities.
Supporting a comprehensive risk and opportunity management program for the Infrastructure IPT.
Communication:
Negotiating competing priorities and interests across a wide range of internal and external stakeholder communities to pursue the best course of action for the Sentinel program.
Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of distinct customer communities, subcontractors, and industry partners.
Providing regular briefings, reports, and other communications to executive leadership.
Technical Excellence:
Ensuring adherence to the Sentinel technical baseline and associated processes for the Facility Design team.
Balancing stringent quality standards for technical artifacts (e.g. Technical Data Packages) with the rapid pace of procurement, fabrication, and construction of test assets and early prototypes.
Making informed decisions between conflicting technical approaches based upon program and IPT-level cost, schedule, and technical impacts and risk.
May be required to travel up to 25% of the time.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Job Qualifications:
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) and a minimum of 6 years of related experience
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
Must be able to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP)
1+ years' experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
1+ years experience with design of facilities or infrastructure in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Active DoD Top Secret with SAP clearance
ICBM Experience
1+ years in a formal lead/management position in the Aerospace and Defense industry
Strong understanding and broad application of engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)
Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations

Salary Range: $116,200 - $174,400
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
