What you will get to do:

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager 2 to support our Strategic Deterrent Systems Digital Transformation in Roy, Utah. The Digital Transformation organization provides the division with future-oriented analyses that can be used to help drive changes and improvements in business practices. By employing analytical techniques, and developing ways to visualize, transform, and report the data, we will be able to make data driven decisions.

The selected candidate will have experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods and tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms, and creating/running simulations. The ideal candidate will be adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. They must have an ability to drive business results with their data-based insights. The candidate should be highly analytical with a knack for analysis, math and statistics, with demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Passion for machine-learning and research are also highly coveted.

Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Data visualization - Make the visualization of large datasets accessible to non-engineers

  • Data Transformation - Work with Data Scientists to develop software to interpret data relationships and ontologies

  • Develop software for analytics tools used for analysis of complex statistical and machine learning models to build predictive and prescriptive strategies.

  • Interface with requirements and deriving design from requirements in a model based systems engineering environment

  • Derive and allocate requirements into detailed design

  • Designs, develops and tests displays, controls and functionality

  • Designs, develops and tests simulation software for use in data analysis

  • Design and develop artificial intelligence algorithms to enable data analysis

  • Develops and maintains databases used to store complex data and data relationships

  • Collaborates with Systems and Quality Engineers to ensure software requirements are met and develop Digital Transformation Dashboards and other software solutions

  • Performs software peer reviews, version control, automated tests, software analysis, continuous integration, and continuous delivery in accordance with DevSecOps processes and best practices

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.




Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science, Statistics or related discipline/5 years of related experience with Bachelor's; 3 years with Master's

  • Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance

  • 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule

  • 1 year of experience interfacing with customers and developing semantic data ontologies

  • 1 year of experience working with large datasets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of statistics, including sample design and probability sampling techniques, survey and experimental design, and measures of precision.

  • Master's degree or PhD in related field

  • Significant experience with R, Python, C++, SQL Database/Coding, JAVA, Javascript Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and visualization tools such as Tableau

  • Demonstrated experience working with unstructured data

  • An active DoD Secret security clearance (or higher)

  • Experience interfacing with customers and developing semantic data ontologies

  • Knowledge of statistics, including sample design and probability sampling techniques, survey and experimental design, and measures of precision.

  • Knowledge of industry developments, business practices, and technical developments to meet business needs.

  • Ability to use computer-based data and operating systems, programming languages, and statistical packages

  • Experience working with large datasets

  • Ability to provide technical guidance related to data design, data collection, and statistical analysis.

  • Ability to communicate facts or ideas orally and in writing, when answering questions, giving directions, providing information, preparing reports/presentations, and in preparing documentation.

  • Ability to provide relevant leadership and support to management, peers, and customers for data science best practices and procedures.

  • Ability to works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated.

  • Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

  • Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.
