Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Manager Strategic Planning in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, Alabama.

The successful applicant for this position will be responsible for developing long-range objectives and strategic plans for our Division by identifying internal and external strategic issues that could affect growth and profitability. Scans environment for business opportunities, maintains surveillance over market, and may perform financial analysis of merger, acquisition and divestiture candidates. Develops and monitors profitability, productivity, and growth targets. May prepare acquisition proposals, recommend financial and nonfinancial strategic objectives and alternatives, and implement and maintain strategic and operational plans. Plans and coordinates business reviews, resource allocations, organization structures, and financial analysis. Division. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for integrating Division strategy with the Division's Strategic Deployment process. This integration includes managing and tracking Division investments, capture, and technology roadmaps, and supporting the long-range strategic planning activities. Support of business development operations includes responsibility for some of the periodic deliverables, pipeline management and serving as a back-up for when other Division business development staff are not available to perform the periodic activity. Secondary activities will be to support business development and capture lifecycle activities on an as needed basis. Division

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide corporate development, strategic planning and portfolio management expertise to our Division leadership team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the key value drivers and industry dynamics of the aerospace and defense sector.

• Ensures that the strategic planning process is timely, concentrated, and value-added. Guarantees that the strategic preparation process highlights current market challenges and ensures that these issues are resolved in a proactive manner in the strategies set out.

• Responsible for providing leadership in annual strategic planning efforts, both short and long-term.

• Evaluates and develops market assessments to include analysis of customer budgets, buying behaviors, capability needs, technology trends and identify potential market growth opportunities.

• Conducts competitive analysis to identifying key trends, recent developments, competitive behaviors, and financial analysis that will help drive competitive position for our Division.

• Leverages modeling and analytics tools to identify future strategic planning needs and recommendations for internal research investments, capital expenditures, talent acquisition, return on investments and technology needs.

• Critical teaming partner across the Division's functional and business unit teams (e.g., business management, business development, engineering, strategy, human resources, contracts, operations, facilities, etc…)

• Participates as key member in evaluation of possible mergers, acquisitions, IRAD performance, strategic business pursuits, and future portfolio mission designs.

• Provides leadership to support a strong and inclusive culture across diverse teams and geographic locations.

Basic Qualifications - Level 1

• Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of work experience or master's degree and 3+ years. In lieu of a degree a candidate must have 10+ year of experience with defense/aerospace business and/or government services.

• Prior experience in strategic planning, integrated project team leadership, corporate development, investment banking, solution architecting or management consulting.

• Experience conducting, or interpreting, strategic planning, and financial analysis.

• Ability to effectively interface at executive levels.

• Ability to travel up to 20%.

• Specific experience with market sizing, segmentation, and share analysis, and/or competitive analysis.

• Experience creating strategies, portfolio & gap analysis, and associated investment plans.

• Strong quantitative skills, including the ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets, and the ability to model business and markets scenarios.

• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

• Ability to collect, analyze and synthesize business and marketing insights from multiple sources.

• Demonstrated a practical understanding of how to utilize available tools to provide market / competitive analysis related to our target market segments.

• Dynamic self-starter with strong attention to detail, strong work ethic to handle multiple priorities and the ability to function independently.

• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance(Top Secret preferred).

Preferred Qualifications-- Level 1

• Specific experience in the Federal and Defense contracting market - knowledge of technologies, competitors and data sources relevant to these markets (i.e. budget documents, subscription data sources, etc.).

• Demonstrated experience with strategy, market research or competitive analysis work.

• Specific experience with market sizing, segmentation, and share analysis, and/or competitive analysis.

• Strong quantitative skills, including the ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets, and the ability to model business and market scenarios.

• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

• Superior communications skills (written, verbal and presentation)

• Exceptional analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills

• Experience developing executive briefings and presenting to executive leadership teams.

Basic Qualifications - Level 2

• Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of work experience or master's degree and 7+ years. In lieu of a degree a candidate must have 12+ year of experience with defense/aerospace business and/or government services.

• Prior experience in strategic planning, integrated project team leadership, corporate development, investment banking, solution architecting or management consulting.

• Experience conducting, or interpreting, strategic planning, and financial analysis.

• Ability to effectively interface at executive levels.

• Ability to travel up to 20%

• Specific experience with market sizing, segmentation, and share analysis, and/or competitive analysis

• Experience creating strategies, portfolio & gap analysis, and associated investment plans

• Strong quantitative skills, including the ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets, and the ability to model business and market scenarios.

Salary Range: $96,700 - $145,100

Salary Range 2: $116,200 - $174,400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
