Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer (Post Boost Attitude Control System). This position will be located in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, Alabama and will be part of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program (Minuteman III ICBM replacement) development contract. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you'll get to do:

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

You'll bring these qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering disciplines from an accredited university with a minimum 14 years of related experience; a Master's degree with 12 years; or a PhD with 9 years

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher

  • Experience with physics based Modeling, Simulation & system performance analysis

  • Experience in a team environment with leadership responsibilities including communication and driving tasking to closure to ensure customer satisfaction and program goals

  • Experience with model based system engineering (MBSE) environment trained in the practice of using modern modeling languages like SysML, UML, UPDM and knowledgeable of the DoDAF and MoDAF frameworks

These qualifications would be nice to have:

  • Experience using enterprise & system modeling tools like Cameo Enterprise Architecture and IBM Rational DOORS.

  • Assembling plans and detailed schedules to accomplish an engineering effort

  • Product testing or validation testing, preferably system level tests demonstrating interaction between subsystems or major elements

  • Familiarity of requirement sets and system architectural approach necessary for spaceflight systems (ordnance, high reliability electronics, thrust vector control, flight safety systems)

  • A graduate certificate in Systems Engineering is highly preferred

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
