Northrop Grumman GBSD - Sr Prncpl Tech Editor and Writer in Roy, Utah

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Technical Writer & Editor in support of weapon system-based training. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Training Systems Team (TST). Learn more about the GBSD program here

This role provides technical writing & editing support to the TST Training Services Lead for program design, development, and delivery of training equipment and simulators.

Job role and responsibilities:

The tech writer will be responsible for authoring and editing training system documents for both the training devices and training courseware activities. The tech writer will be responsible for creating document templates from the USAF Data Item Description (DID) documents associated with the CDRLs, coordinating document inputs with the technical team, and finalizing and polishing the deliverables. Typical documentation for the training devices include software requirements specifications, software design documents, test procedures, test results, user guides, and a technical data package. Typical documentation for the courseware activities includes storyboards, Trainee Guides, and Instructor Guides.

Generating templates for technical documents

Generating technical documents, such as technical orders, technical procedures, engineering documents, training material, standard operating procedures, and test procedures

Adhering to the naming conventions and document format standards

Oversee preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts

Reviewing documentation to ensure adherence to document and quality standards, ease of use, logical order of tasks, etc.

Contributes to the upgrading of standards and best practice guidelines

Collaborate with other team members

Job Description:

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a motivated professional to serve Technical Writer / Editor 4. This position is located in Palmdale, Ca. The successful candidate will provide technical writing/editing for technical data, ensuring file configuration control, compliance with the RFP and clean final products.

Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.
