Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Command and Launch Team. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here .
What You'll Get To Do:
•Analyzes, researches, and develops structural engineering specifications for metallic, non-metallic and composite structures in all phases of the product life cycle
•Analyses of the structures could include loads and dynamics, stress, stability, fatigue, and thermal.
•Perform analyses utilizing hand calculations and or finite element software packages
•Work closely with multiple design and development teams including but not limited to Computational Fluid Mechanics, System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Quality, Materials and Safety to achieve program objectives and to verify creative design solutions that meet all requirements (technical, cost, schedule)
•Additional work responsibilities may include task planning, conducting technical peer reviews, and mentoring junior engineers
•Prepare reports and documentation of structural assessment activities and results

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• 9 Years of experience with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
• Active Secret Clearance with completed investigation within the last 6 years
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience using FEM software tools such as NASTRAN or Abaqus
•Experience performing Failure Mode, Effects and Critically Analysis (FMECA) on mechanical boxes and electrical components
• Experience using NX and CPLM
• Experience working on a defense programs such as missile systems
