Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Consulting Materials & Processes Engineer - Stress Analysis Level 6 to join our Parts, Materials, and Processes organization of qualified, diverse. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

What You'll Get To Do:

This high visibility position requires a motivated, self-starter with a broad engineering and manufacturing process background, and with an in-depth knowledge of Non-Metallics, and electronics. The successful candidate will:

  • Be a technical leader in delivering innovative and effective solutions for our current and emerging Space Systems and Ground Based Strategic Deterrent missions by utilizing industry leading processes and tools.

  • Have strong people and technical leadership skills, with excellent 2-way communication and has previously demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills. Interface regularly with Program IPTs, Program Office, and Customer community.

  • Must be a leader with a demonstrated ability to work within small to large diverse engineering team constructs addressing a wide range of complex technical problems.

  • Have extensive experience in stress analyses of metallic and composite structures.

  • The position will require the performance of static of metallic and composite structure using classical 'hand' methods and also using automated methods and procedures approved for the program.

  • Provide senior technical support and execution oversight to suppliers/subcontractors and in-house manufacturing, ensuring Program and Functional requirements are met.

  • Provide senior technical support for design reviews across the program.

  • Ensure that designs meet program requirements for strength, durability, and damage tolerance, and are the lightest, lowest cost, and highest quality products consistent with schedule and budget objectives .

  • Support technical activities through multiple venues including FRB (Failure Review Board), Top Technical Issues forum, and PCAB (Preventive and Corrective Action Board).

  • Serve as consultant to top management in long-range company planning concerning new or projected areas of technological research and advancements. Be called upon to participate on unrelated programs or proposals.

  • Should work well in a team environment and create high quality analysis reports and presentations.

Must hold an active Secret clearance (or higher) and be able to obtain SAP clearance.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

Job Qualifications:

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 20 years of aerospace or defense engineering experience OR Master's Degree with 18 years of experience; 15 years with PhD.

  • Complete understanding of structural analysis techniques, concepts and practices

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple tasks in parallel

  • Active DOD Secret clearance with an investigation within the last 5 years is required

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Proficiency with NASTRAN, Patran, FEMAP, and Matlab

  • Experience with layout sizing and structural integrity evaluations of primary and secondary structure

  • Experience in structural test applications

  • Advanced knowledge in durability and damage tolerance analysis methods

  • Experience working in a liaison engineering environment, resolving MRB issues

  • Experience working on Special Access Programs

  • Active, in-scope DoD Top Secret clearance

  • Experience on missiles programs & with propulsion
