Northrop Grumman offers challenging career opportunities in Hardware Engineering within the Mission Systems Sector that play a key role in the mission to protect our military personnel. The Hardware Engineering organization is dedicated to consistently providing high quality product designs in support of multiple product areas. The Design Data and Product Integrity Engineering (DDPIE) organization provides engineering support services for all programs at the Rolling Meadows campus including CCA Design Layout Technology, Configuration Management, Data Management, Drafting, Standards and Components, Product Follow, and Product Integrity Engineering

The Standards and Components engineer will be responsible for electronic materials used within electronic and mechanical components including adhesives, encapsulants, plastics, metals, printed wiring board materials and surface finishes (e.g., paints, primers, platings, conversion coatings). Primary responsibilities include researching electronic components for application, supporting electronics packaging design efforts and design reviews, reviewing and approving engineering drawings, ensuring compliance to regulatory directives (e.g., REACh), addressing materials issues identified in Production, preparing Corrosion Prevention Control plans, conducting accelerated life tests, and qualification testing of materials.

Candidate will serve as a liaison to several internal organizations and external suppliers and must possess good oral and written communications skills.

Background with and working knowledge of electronic materials used within electronic and mechanical components including adhesives, encapsulants, plastics, metals, printed wiring board materials and surface finishes (e.g., paints, primers, platings, conversion coatings).

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering/Materials Science with 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S Government Security Clearance is required.

  • Candidate must possess good oral and written communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Responsibilities include researching electrical components for application,

  • Familiarity with governing regulatory directives (e.g., REACh, RoHS) and Mil-Specs.

  • Ability to be the liaison to several internal organizations and external suppliers and must possess good oral and written communications skills.

Salary Range: $75,700 - $113,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
