Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Wind Tunnel Model Fabrication Technician 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
The Wind Tunnel Model Fabrication Technician 3 will be expected to:
Collaborate directly with engineering to construct complex models and test articles to exacting tolerances per the requesting engineers direction.
Build Wind Tunnel Models/Test Articles to support AERO system developement and design.
Provide specialized parts and hardware to facilitate test and evaluation of prototype articles.
Responsible for quality and integrity of fabricated components associated with technology development, test and verification.
Supports test execution requirements associated with the models.
Travel to various test site locations and support the Responsible Engineers testing efforts.
Extensive knowledge in specialized functions related to building and testing of models.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and blueprints.
Will be working and communicating with supporting organizations such as engineers, customers and senior leadership.
Must be able to work first or second shift and extensive overtime as needed.
High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of experience in general shop fabrication and conventional machining processes.
Experience using engineering drawings, specifications and blueprints to determine machine tolerances, dimensions and other design requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance and SAR program access.
Ability to work 1st and/or 2nd shift as needed.
Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level.
5 years of Wind Tunnel Model fabrication experience including test support.
Ability to use FARO and/or Laser Tracker inspection system
