Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a Control System Product Development Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The selected candidate will lead technical execution and program management of developing exquisite, high-reliability hardware/software solutions for air and space. Deliverables include spacecraft Attitude Control Systems (ACS) and aircraft Vehicle Management Systems (VMS). The immediate near-term role will support our Vehicle Management System Director in the detailed execution of a large company investment including roadmap development, technical design, implementation, laboratory testing, and delivery to customers across a broad range of platforms in the NGC portfolio.
This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA.
In this role, the selected candidate will include:
Cost, schedule, and risk management of technical development of a redundant high-reliability vehicle management system.
Participate in the negotiation of technical statements of work and programmatic changes with key suppliers.
Coordination for the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contracts.
Act as a key customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions, and extracting requirements.
Development of design concepts, criteria, and engineering effort for product research, development, integration and test to support development of new business and expanding the product line.
This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills to manage the schedule, budget and technical requirements for the group to meet overall program and product development commitments. The candidate will have excellent communication (written, oral and presentation), interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships within and between Integrated Product Team (IPTs) as well as brief senior management and customers.
Applications of the product development include hardware and software across a broad range of manned, unmanned and optionally piloted systems. Experience with integrating best-practices from engineering homerooms is desired along with participation within a Community of Practice (CoP) across Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems' US-based geographical locations.
A Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering or other related field of study is required
A minimum 10 years of experience in one of the following: ACS/VMS/Avionics development, flight-critical or safety-critical systems development
Demonstrated effective performance in leadership in a technical, management or supplier management position is required
Ability to travel 25% of the time to support program reviews and technical meetings
An active DoD Secret Security Clearance is required
Experience with delivery/deployment of Vehicle Management Systems of Aircraft or Space Vehicles is preferred
Experience with management including project planning and management using MS Project, EVMS, risk / opportunity management, and issue/problem prioritization and tracking for a technical team
Demonstrated experience in managing complex HW/SW requirements compliance, development, and lab test verification activities
A proven track record of effective supplier management
An in-scope DoD Secret Security Clearance is preferred
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
