The Planning, Logistics, and Infrastructure Department (PL&I) within Materials, Manufacturing, Integration, Test and Launch (M2IT&L) has a need for a Thermal Insulation Products (TIP) Section Manager to be a functional homeroom manager, leading a team of individual contributors, and contribute directly to programs and other department activities.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Staffing support to all space systems and space programs.
Conducting periodic performance evaluations, including mid-year and annual reviews
Providing technical leadership and guidance to the staff
Managing indirect and capital needs
Professional development and mentoring of direct reports
Supporting Functional Homeroom initiatives and projects which include process improvement, Event Response Teams, Corrective, and Preventive Action implementation
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Performing the research, design, and development of multi-layer insulation (MLI) for the Thermal Insulation Products organization
Developing and overseeing the execution of Process Documentation and training materials
Performing production and manufacturability assessments on thermal insulation products and providing input to design engineering to enhance manufacturability, quality and performance
Providing project management support utilizing tools such as earned value measurement system (EVMS) and forward-looking predictive metrics (i.e., leading indicators)
Identifying and initiating corrective action of problems, discrepancies and deficiencies to ensure requirements (technical, schedule, & cost) are met and product quality is not compromised
Ensuring effective coordination between the design teams (Vehicle Engineering, Thermal, Contamination Control, etc.) and MLI
Establishing capabilities and processes that support long-range strategic goals for the Thermal Insulation Products organization
Planning and coordinating the preparation of project documentation, such as integration procedures (CAPE), engineering drawings, and production specifications/schedules, to ensure customer requirements are met
