Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a MechanicalStress Engineer 2 to work in Redondo Beach, California.

The Antenna Products Department islooking for a Mechanical Stress Engineer to join our department. Theselected candidate will have technical working knowledge with RF components andassemblies, and spacecraft structures including primary/secondary structuresmade of metallic materials, advanced composites & Honeycomb constructions. Experienceof material strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions andprocesses (e.g. non-destructive testing, composite assemblies, etc) is highly desiredfor this individual. The ideal candidate will have experience working withFemap, Nastran, MATLAB, and Simulink.Experience and proficiency withCREO/Pro Engineering, Catia 5, NX or other 3-D cad system is essential to thesuccessful execution of this role. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning andTolerancing (GD&T) is also essential for this individual.

Essential Functions

  • Knowledge of environmental testing requirements and mechanical testing

  • Structural static test

  • Thermal cycle test

  • Random & vibration tests to demonstrate qualification / acceptanceof spacecraft structures

BasicQualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution and 2 years of engineering experience in an aerospaceenvironment OR

  • Masters of Science degree in a STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution

  • Knowledgeof spacecraft structures including primary/secondary structure made ofmetallic, advance composites, and/or Honeycomb materials and construction

  • Experienceand proficiency with CREO/Pro Engineering, Catia 5, NX or other 3-D cad system.

  • Knowledgeof Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Abilityto obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

PreferredQualifications:

  • Masters’ Degree in Aerospace orMechanical Engineering

  • Knowledgeof spacecraft structures including primary/secondary structure made ofmetallic, advance composites, and/or Honeycomb materials and construction

  • Knowledgeof Antenna systems and Architecture

  • Knowledgeof RF components and assemblies

  • Knowledgeof electronics integration, packaging, and cable & harness design

  • Experienceand proficiency with CREO/Pro Engineering, Catia 5, NX or other 3-D cad system.

  • Abilityto perform trade studies

  • Knowledgeof Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Knowledgeof Mathlab or Mathcad

  • Possesses strongleadership qualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
