Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Structural Analysis Engineer/Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Vehicle Products Center. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
Overview
Analyzes, researches, and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic, or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of space sector products. Analyzes stiffness/strength, durability, design allowables, and performs structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads (sine, random vibration, acoustic, and shock), composite structures, bonded joint analyses, stability, static stress, and fatigue. Tools utilized may include: Femap, NX NASTRAN, Mathcad, Matlab, CATIA, and a variety of other software applications.
The responsibilities of a Structural Analysis Engineer include (but are not limited to):
Metallic and Composite Structural Analyses including detailed analysis procedures, analysis of fittings/fasteners/joints/splices, acoustics/vibration familiarity, structural integrity planning, design criteria development, stability, crippling, durability analysis, and finite element modeling.
Layout sizing, and structural integrity evaluations.
Review of requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems.
Create FEA models and perform systems and sub-systems structural analysis.
Participate and present in internal and external (customer) design reviews.
Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining focus on common project goals.
This requisition may be filled at either a Structural Analysis Engineer level or Principal Structural Analysis Engineer level based on the qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications - Structural Analysis Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 2 years of engineering experience OR Master's Degree in STEM with 0 years of engineering experience.
Experience with Finite Element Analyses Tools.
Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain, a Department of Defense Top Secret clearance and/or SCI Access
Basic Qualifications - Principal Structural Analysis Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of engineering experience OR Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of engineering experience.
Experience with Finite Element Analyses Tools.
Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain, a Department of Defense Top Secret clearance and/or SCI Access
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in FEMAP and NX Nastran
Experience with metallic and composite structures sizing
Experience working on Special Access Programs
Participation in multiple design cycles in spacecraft/aircraft development programs
Active Department of Defense Top Secret clearance with a background investigation date within 6 years AND Active SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 6 years
Salary Range: $85,000 - $127,400
Salary Range 2: $104,600 - $157,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
