Northrop Grumman Staff Systems Engineer - Operations Lead in Redondo Beach, California

The Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector seeks team members who want to solve interesting, complex problems which protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. The team you will support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.

What you'll get to do?

The Sagittarius Ground Segment (GS) Operations Lead manages a team of Ground Operations systems engineers for the development, test, and validation of standard operational procedures, technical orders (TOs), and processes (proc scripts) for Ground operation. The GS Ops lead interacts with the System SEIT Missions Operations manager, Customer Operations manager, Ground software lead, and GS Integration and Test lead, to deliver ground operational products throughout the lifecycle from early integration tests to on-orbit operation. The GS Ops Lead will be part of a cross-functional agile team on a fully integrated Agile program.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 14 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 9 years of relevant experience with a PhD

  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances:

  • Dept of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 5 years

  • OR SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

  • OR Dept of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

  • Familiar with spacecraft operation

  • Proficient with programming and scripting

  • Familiar with Cost Accounts

  • Familiar with system engineering processes

  • Familiar with software test plans and software validation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Geostar-3 spacecraft bus

  • Experience with NASA Spacecraft Test and Operation Language (STOL) script

  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM)

  • Experience with Payload operation

  • Experience with Agile processes

  • Experience with the Agile role of Product Owner or Scrum Master

  • Experience with Atlassian agile tools (Jira & Confluence)

  • Experience with CAMEO or other MBSE architecture tools
