Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) is an industry-leading provider for launch systems capabilities serving national security, military, civil and commercial customers. The Chief Engineer is the responsible authority for program technical efforts. The candidate will be responsible for the overall technical effort, leads design reviews, supports technical review boards, supports change boards, coordinates cross-contract technical efforts, and closes top issues for program management. The Chief Engineer reports to the program manager and coordinates with the integrated product team leads, customer, and external stakeholders. The program is based in Redondo Beach, CA, with required travel domestically and internationally.
The candidate is expected to be highly knowledgeable in the challenges, technologies, and solutions that address our space systems, ground systems, and mission. The ideal candidate will have had previous direct experience in the development, integration, delivery, operations, and maintenance of the program.
Position has high visibility and requires excellent communication skills, proven leadership skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritize objectives to support critical efforts, and the technical aptitude to perform operations related analysis and technical decision making..

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 14+ years of engineering experience OR - Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12+ years of engineering experience OR - PhD Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9+ years of engineering experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in Space Systems, Ground Systems, Systems Engineering, or Hardware/Software integration and test.
Ability to establish and maintain a trusting relationship with the customer
Experience leading or influencing large teams
Active DoD Top Secret/SSBI and/or SCI
Master's Degree in Engineering
Experience working on aircraft or spacecraft systems
Experience in developing, managing, and decomposing requirements
Experience in system architecture, CONOPs, or model based system engineering
Experience in subsystem, payload, or system integration
Experience using DOORS, Cameo
Strong People and Technical Leadership Skills
Excellent communication Skills (upward and downward)
