SSSD has an opening for a Staff Subcontracts Mission Assurance Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA .
This position requires interaction with all levels of employees including: Program Mission Assurance Managers, Program Subcontract Managers/Acquisition Managers, Integrated Project Team leads, and representatives from Reliability, PM&P, Configuration Management, System Safety, and Software Quality.
In this role, you will:
Define and monitor Mission Assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs.
Perform or assure quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements.
Understand the Subcontracts Mission Assurance system well enough to be able to determine acceptable Subcontractor Mission Assurance system implementation.
Participate in Failure Review Board and Material Review Board activities, including root cause and corrective action verification
Participate in Design reviews such as PDR and CDR
Participate in Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Pre-Ship Readiness Reviews.

14 Years of professional work experience within Mission Assurance and/or other related discipline with a Bachelors in Science;
OR 12 Years of professional work experience within Mission Assurance and/or other related discipline with a Masters;
OR 9 Years of professional work experience within Mission Assurance and/or other related discipline with a PhD
Prior Subcontract and supplier experience.
Experience managing several small to large subcontracts
Experience reviewing and approving nonconformances
Experience participating in Design and Manufacturing reviews
Ability to perform compliance audits of Subcontractors Quality Systems to assure compliance to requirements
Experience effectively communicating for understanding at all levels of an organization including high level customer representatives.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must currently possess and be able to maintain an active SCI with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)
Previous experience in Space Satellite/Payload industry
Bachelor of Science Degree in one of the following fields: Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering/Technology or Manufacturing Engineering
Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness. Viewed as expert within the field.
