The Consolidated Operations and Anomaly Support Team (COAST) is a restricted Operations and Maintenance (O&M) program with several Integrated Project Teams (IPTs). The Software Engineering IPT focuses on the sustainment of several mission operational product lines, as well as the development of new capabilities as coordinated with the Customer.
The Software Engineering IPT is a large team comprising multiple subsystems, each with their specialized software focus. We are looking for an energetic and passionate software engineer to join our team as we work to provide innovative solutions to complex issues in support of our Customer's national security mission.
The position offers domestic and international travel opportunities.
Basic Qualifications for the Staff Software Engineer:
Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access prior to start date
A master's degree in computer science (or a related field) and 12 years of experience or a bachelor's degree in computer science (or a related field) and 14 years of experience; an additional 4 years of experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree
Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system
Linux troubleshooting experience
Proficient with one or more of the following: C, C++, or Java programming
Proficient with Python; knowledge of Perl desired
Preferred Qualifications for the Staff Software Engineer:
Experience working with internal and external customer in a production environment
Formal software development experience in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment (versions 4-8)
Knowledge of Configuration Control Management
An understanding of CVEs, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity policies and practices
Previous work experience with the following software application/ file structures: GNU C/C++; JAVA (Oracle and/or Open JDK); O/S internals; X11; openSSL; SELINUX; IPTABLES; Perl; Python; csh/tcsh scripting; bash scripting; mySQL/mariaDB; Postgresql; SQLite; Posix threading; IP networking (UDP/TCP/multicast/group); Posix/Unix semaphores; sed/awk/grep; /proc and /sys file systems
An understanding of reverse engineering techniques
Previous participation on an Agile scrum team or familiarity with the Agile process
Prior DevSecOps experience
Familiarity with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
Active TS/SCI security clearance
Salary Range: $156,000 - $234,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
