Northrop Grumman is looking for an experienced Digital Unit/MODEM designer to join our team at the Redondo Beach, CA location.

Tasks of this role includes digital unit design (DEPUTY lead) for the Sagitarrius MilSATCOM area. The qualified candidate is familiar with the Space electronics development process. The candidate also needs to lead a small team of board and FPGA, board designers and verification engineers and to coordinate with other engineering specialty areas to develop a space or airborne qualified MODEM & Controller unit. Other Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Digital Hardware Development

  • Help develop DSP architecture, including modulation waveform implementation

  • Simulation (Communications, signal processing)

  • Requirements development & flow down

  • Guide board and unit level hardware architecture

  • Work with other designers, such as FPGA/board designers to help implement design

  • Lab and Benchtop Testing Setup activities

  • Help develop test plans for testing developed hardware

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution with 14 years of experience; 12 years with a Masters degree

  • 10 years of experience in MODEM and or digital hardware design development/verification with emphasis on DSP applications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 20 years of experience developing/testing Electronics for military or spacecraft applications, 10 of those in DSP design

  • Digital or Mixed signal unit, slice, board, and/or ASIC/FPGA design and development experience

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or other Engineering field from an accredited institution

  • Hands-on knowledge of programmatic/cost account management (CAM) processes, project planning and scheduling, cost control, change control, EVMS, staffing, coordination and oversight of technical work effort

  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to manage engineers and technicians in a process driven environment

  • DOD SECRET clearance
