Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Electromechanical Engineer 4 to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in Redondo Beach, CA.
Responsibilities not limited to demonstrating extensive technical expertise applied to antennas and RF products and demonstrates full knowledge of other related disciplines. Effective communication and demonstrated ability to clearly present technical approaches regarding the state-of-the-art Antenna technology domains is essential to the role.
Responsibilities will also span application of electrical, electronic and mechanical design principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems. Primary scope will involve development of mission-enabling Antenna products for space.
Essential Functions :
Antenna Mechanical Design, Analysis, with supporting manufacturing, electrical and environmental testing with consultant level direction.
Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of Antenna Mechanical Design.
Completed work on antenna products is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for program and / or functional homeroom desired results on Long Range Strategic Plan
Demonstrate knowledge in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, tolerance analysis, DC and RF cable and harness design, waveguide design, and design of metallic and composite structures for space flight.
Incorporation of lessons learned and experiences in design/analysis, innovative thinking, and familiarity with the state-of-the-art
Communication & information flow to project team and functional homeroom management, as well as fulfilling reporting requirements to customer & program management
Identifying and realizing opportunities to reduce cost and improve processes
Creates design documentation to enable fabrication, assembly, test of Antenna and RF products in the form of drawings, bill of materials, and procedures.
Leads adjudication of non-conforming hardware
Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters
Mentorship of the next generation of technical associates

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 9 years of experience with designing mechanical structures OR 7 years of experience with a Master of Science degree OR 4 years of experience with a PhD.
Expertise with a CAD tool such as CREO, Catia, NX, or SOLIDWORKS.
Candidate must have U.S. Government TOP SECRET security clearance and be able to obtain SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution and at least 10 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment producing flight hardware.
Expertise with CREO CAD tool with Windchill product data management.
Experience with Antenna system architecture development, Antenna system synthesis based on requirements flow down.
Candidate has, and can maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances:
Dept. of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years
SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years
Dept. of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

Salary Range: $129,700 - $194,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
