Directed Energy (DE) is seeking a Software Engineer for the Auto Bits & Cals IRAD effort. The selected candidate must have demonstrated strong technical experience in embedded software development, integration, and test.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure consistency and quality of software products

  • Basic experience developing embedded software in C and or C+- Assess impacts of proposed engineering changes to the system design and implement engineering changes to the system as required

  • Basic experience with software control of hardware

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM related field (Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field) with 2 years of software engineering experience OR Master's Degree in a STEM related field with 0 years of experience

  • Experience in embedded software development

  • Basic knowledge of communication and signaling protocols for control of low level devices.

  • Software engineering experience developing in C++ and or C.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline

  • Familiar with all phases of the software development life cycle

  • Experience working with system

  • Experience in software control of hardware instrumentation is a plus.

  • Experience in all phases of the software life-cycle, including software design, development, integration and test along with formal qualification testing.

  • Ability to understand software development for both low level applications (e.g., embedded, real-time) and high level applications (mission control software)
