Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Quality Control Technician 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The selected candidates should possess a solid knowledge of visual inspection techniques using visual criteria to accept or reject products. It requires the knowledge of hazardous chemical handling/storage. Be familiar with military/industrial process standards/specifications related to inspection to space grade electronic assemblies.

Essential Functions:

  • Understanding of inspection workmanship criteria, rework and repair operations and quality testing related operations.

  • Uses detail acceptance instructions to validate product compliance to requirements, and predetermined methods, and prescribed specifications to visually inspect hardware assemblies of various complexities.

  • Visual inspection utilizing microscopes, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, borescopes and other measuring techniques.

  • Understanding of electronic and mechanical assembly drawings, work diagrams, customer specifications, inspection instructions, prescribed checklists, or other control procedures.

  • Inspection for structural flaws, internal and/or external defects as the result of defective material, reworks or repair cycles.

  • Candidate must be familiar with the Integration & Test QA processes for spacecraft/payload operations including discrepancy/disposition process, procedure review and approval, hardware and software configuration management, EAGE/MAGE processes and alignment operations.

  • Must be experienced with in-process and final satellite integration, test and launch on DoD, government and commercial programs, to include mechanical and electrical integration, system testing, near field range testing, mass properties, deployment testing and configuration verification for all activities.

  • Candidate must be able to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays. Must be able to travel and work offsite for extended periods. Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, elevated platforms, around sensitive equipment.

  • Candidate should have ability to read and interpret engineering blue prints and associated drawing notes and tier-level instructions.

  • Will be responsible for understanding material and equipment used for the manufacturing and inspection of these devices.

  • Will be responsible for following environmental, health and safety protocols and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

AA or other 2-year technical certificateand3 years of satellite integration experience.

A current in scope SSBI clearance or active TS/SCIis required.

Must beproficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to work any shift, overtime or non-standard work schedule.

  • Must be able to work around composites, epoxies, and sealants for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to perform moderately strenuous physical and repetitious work to include climbing, bending, crawling, stooping, and kneeling, lifting, working with arms overhead, leaning and laying.

  • Must be able Lift, grip, push, pull and hold 25+ pounds.

  • Must be able to work in and around Confined spaces to include but not limited to fuel tanks and ducts.

  • Must be able to push and pull own body weight to enter and exit confined spaces
