SSSD has an opening for a Milling Machinist 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Redondo Beach, California.

Sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours; boring compound angular holes; doing helical and spiral milling; serrating; and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances. Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling; plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut; interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations; and measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Exclude general, all-around machinists and operators who do not perform own setups or determine sequence of operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience performing a variety of machinist responsibilities, which may include but are not limited to the following:
Must be capable of programming complex close-tolerance machined hardware in various exotic materials, including Titanium, Invar, Kovar, Inconel, Macor, Fiberglass Epoxy, Aluminum, etc. Programming in Mastercam version 2020 or higher, Esprit TNG, creating geometry, or using Solid Models, IGES, STEP, DXF files, and 3, 4, and 5-dimensional advanced programming techniques is a must. Must have a high-speed machining background with the ability to work a two-axis trunnion and a horizontal machining background.
The applicant should also be well versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance per ANSI 14.5M 1982/1994 specifications to interpret actual position and tolerance requirements. Capable programming for DMG, Mazak, and HAAS CNC 3, 4, and 5-axis machines, along with Mill-Turn CNC 6-axis machines. Must have Fanuc, Mazatrol, and Siemens controller experience. Able to work with little or no direct supervision. Willingness to work overtime when needed to satisfy customer requirements. Experience with Catia and NX is a plus.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
· AA\AS Degree plus four years of experience as a CNC Programmer / Machinist or High School Diploma/GED and six years of experience as a CNC Programmer / Machinist.
· Six years’ experience in programming skills using Mastercam, Smartcam, or GIBBS required.
· Experience in the aerospace industry as a machinist
· Experience programming, setup, and then producing parts with minimum supervision
· Experience manufacturing complex tolerance machined hardware in various exotic materials, from Titanium, Invar, Kovar, Stainless, Aluminum, etc.
· Experience in multi-axis machining and turning with live tooling background.
· Experience in high-speed machining.
· Conventional machining background
· Proven ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with Haas, Mazak, DMG, and Fadal CNC Mills
· Experience with Vericut, NX, Catia5, and AutoCAD
· Excellent communication skills.
· Experience in wire and plunge EDM.
· Able to grind tooling for needed projects.
Salary Range: $68,600 - $114,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
